Cassandra Peterson

Cassandra Peterson has advised about horror and sci-fi films for decades. She is perhaps famous for her character Elvira in Elvira’s Movie Macabre. Already experienced as a showgirl, she portrayed the character in a revealing, black, gothic gown. Her show features a weekly presentation of horror and sci-fi B movies. Her costume, along with her spastic personality, made Peterson well-known throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Her character appeared on multiple products, with varying degrees of success, and posed on the cover of Femme Fatales five times. Her zenith was in 1988 when she released her film Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.

Today, Peterson still does the role of Elvira, often appearing in public events and gatherings such as in pride parades. In recent years, she has appeared in many TV series and films either as Elvira or herself. Her latest film appearance was in the documentary film In Search of Darkness: Part II. She has also been working on a direct sequel to Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, as well as an animated Elvira project.
